Van Jordan has been named the first Henry Rutgers Presidential Professor at Rutgers University.   Jordan is known for the breadth of vision and depth of insight in his writing. He will join the Newark Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program in the English Department at Rutgers in fall 2014.       Jordan has been a full professor since 2009 at the University of Michigan. He has received a long list of noteworthy awards and honors. Reviewers often remark on his ability to shed light on human relations and approach a broad range of subjects from quantum physics to classic and contemporary film. SOC former professor and publisher dies Publisher and former SOC journalism professor Raymond H. Boone Sr. died June 3rd at his home in Richmond, Virginia. Boone, 76, was publisher of the weekly Richmond (Va.) Free Press. He taught journalism at Howard for about nine years .
