ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT!
Arrelle D. Anderson |
Arrelle D. Anderson is the first woman Chief Operating
Officer (COO) on the Board of Commissioners in Clayton County (Georgia)
Government. Embodying Howard University’s tradition of academic excellence,
Anderson earned her bachelor of arts in journalism from Howard with an
advertising concentration. She earned a master of business administration in Marketing/Entrepreneurship at the
University of Georgia, and a Certificate in Project Management from Georgetown
University. Prior to her recent appointment, Anderson was the Owner/Chief
Strategist of Chandlerson Strategic Management in Washington, D.C., where she
led operational and strategic initiatives for numerous teams in several
District of Columbia government agencies, including the District of Columbia
Public Schools. As COO, Anderson oversees the operational functions of 22 departments,
which includes Public Safety, Community Services, Economic Development and the Clayton
County Prison. Anderson empowers leaders to manage change from an operational
perspective as she holds directors accountable daily for ensuring that their
outcomes are aligned with the vision of the Board of Commissioners. She
primarily serves as the second-in-command to the Chairman of the Board, and
oversees the execution of countywide initiatives that will advance Clayton
County as a whole. Since her appointment, Anderson has implemented the Clayton
County Economic Development Collaborative, which focuses on designing the
economic landscape for the county through joint efforts with each municipality
in the county. Anderson prides herself on maintaining a work/life balance and
makes time to volunteer, travel, read fiction novels, and spend time with
family and friends. She is a native of Jersey City, New Jersey, but is proud to
call Washington, D.C. AND Georgia her home as she fulfills her appointment as
Chief Operating Officer.
