SOC Alum in Lights!

Erin Winters, SOC '16

School of C Broadcast Journalism May 2016 graduate Erin Winters is a top 20 finalist in the "Live With You" Co- Host Search with Kelly  Ripa.  Erin competed with hundreds of others. Today on the show it was announced she is in the top 20! Those with the top votes will go to NYC, and the top 5 will co-host with Ripa on her nationally-syndicated show. 

You can vote once a day until Oct 9.

News Engagement Day! - Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016

A sample of some of our engaged classes:

The students in associate professor Sheryl Johnson-Ross’  Media Planning and Buying class used #NewsEngagementDay to review trends in the news about major brands and their associated IMC campaigns to post and share.


The Organizational Communication class, led by assistant professor Wei Sun searched for credible resources on questions of organizational conflict management, the links for their resources were collected to share on social media sites. Here’s to #NewsEngagementDay!


SOC's Public Affairs Reporting- Broadcast class is connecting today with associate professor Jennifer Thomas' leadership. The class held presentations on The Art of the Interview. Tips for successful reporting was the topic.


Dr. Tia Tyree tweets for #NewsEngagementDay.

Professor Tia Tyree's  class gets engaged on social media for #NewsEngagementDay. Students will write or post videos on three key media questions: 
a.     Why does news matter?
b.     Why does Black media matter?
c.      Social media makes news better by:


Assistant professor Jae Eun Chung's Broadcast Management online course spent the day on newspaper websites and posting stories for #NewsEngagementDay from Facebook to Twitter and Google+.
