CONNECTICUT STATE CONFERENCE NAACP TO HOST SEVENTH GREAT DEBATE Harvard University vs. Howard University Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman to Serve as Moderator     HARTFORD – Some of the brightest young minds from two of the most prestigious universities will face off Tuesday, March 31, 2015 when the State Conference NAACP hosts its Great Debate. The event will be held at 10 a.m. at The First Cathedral 1151 Blue Hills Ave. Bloomfield, CT.  Students from Harvard and Howard Universities will debate topics related to education and judicial reform. The moderator for this year’s forum will be Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, who has spent 30 years in public service, beginning as a Tolland Board of Education member. The NAACP Great Debate is inspired by the 2007 movie “The Great Debaters”, starring Denzel Washington. “We are excited to host the Great Debate for the seventh year,” NAACP President Scot X. School of C Happenings! NewsVision On-Air The student-led NewsVision is back on the air after two decades in a partnership with Howard’s PBS station, WHUT-TV. NewsVision is broadcast on Tuesdays and Thursdays on WHUT, which reaches more than 2 million households in the Washington metro area.  Faculty members in the Department of Media, Journalism and Film have worked with students in the senior capstone class since last fall to get NewVision on the air. It starts with twice-weekly news reports in March that will eventually become a half-hour newscast in the fall.  We look forward to much success for NewsVision.
