School of C Happenings!

NewsVision On-Air
The student-led NewsVision is back on the air after two decades in a partnership with Howard’s PBS station, WHUT-TV. NewsVision is broadcast on Tuesdays and Thursdays on WHUT, which reaches more than 2 million households in the Washington metro area.

Faculty members in the Department of Media, Journalism and Film have worked with students in the senior capstone class since last fall to get NewVision on the air. It starts with twice-weekly news reports in March that will eventually become a half-hour newscast in the fall.

We look forward to much success for NewsVision. Kudos to faculty and staff Jennifer Thomas, Yanick Rice Lamb, Bishetta Merritt, Indira Somani, Yolanda McCutchen, Ingrid Sturgis, Michael Austin, Candy Shannon Lewis and Nigel Martin for getting this started.

Congratulations to Shameka Johnson, assistant professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders, who has been selected as the 2015 winner of CETLA's Teaching with Technology Award at Howard.  She does an excellent job of integrating technology into her classes and with the School of C’s focus on digital communication is an exemplar of the difference we want to make for our students.
