Journalist Ed Gordon visits School of C
 

 
Broadcast journalist Ed Gordon visits the School of Communications. The Media, Journalism and Film department is the host of Gordon's week at SOC participating in a series of classroom lectures and workshops. Gordon, an Emmy-award winning journalist and radio host spent time reviewing and critiquing student-produced work, discussing the changing landscape of the media industry, and producing across media platforms. Gordon is the host of the nationally syndicated radio program Weekend with Ed Gordon, which airs Saturday mornings from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on WHUR. He is widely recognized as the former anchor of BET News, where he landed the first interview with O.J. Simpson following his 1995 murder trial acquittal. He has been a contributing correspondent to 60 Minutes and a correspondent and anchor at NBC News where he reported stories for Today, Dateline and MSNBC. He previously hosted News and Notes with Ed Gordon on National Public Radio.

School of Communications $150 for 150th Campaign continues in 2014


The School of Communications Annual Fundraising Campaign:
$150 for the 150th HU Anniversary yearly gift until 2017. We are seeking support from alumni and friends of $150.00 yearly to the school’s annual fund. The gift is restricted to the School of Communications for use with student scholarships, study abroad and programs. The campaign kicked off at the 2013 Homecoming reception. Alonzo Crawford, director and retired SOC professor is keeping his reels moving in the film industry. Crawford's script was selected as a quarter finalist at the Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF) held in Richmond, Virginia, February 27-March 2, 2014. The festival is emerging as one of the east coast's newest and best festivals for artist recognition. The festival's main venue is the historic Byrd Theatre.
