School of C blossoms in the spring  Rikki Frohmader, Dean Lawson-Borders, and Alexis Carter at the MLB Summit Major League Baseball Diversity Business Summit , New York Two SOC students, Rikki Frohmader and Alexis Carter , played across center field at the MLB Diversity Business Summit in New York. They lined up good interviews and were seen networking throughout the Summit, which is in its third year.   We would like to thank the MLB and the Washington Nationals for their support of our students. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT! Arrelle D. Anderson A rrelle D. Anderson is the first woman Chief Operating Officer (COO) on the Board of Commissioners in Clayton County (Georgia) Government. Embodying Howard University’s tradition of academic excellence, Anderson earned her bachelor of arts in journalism from Howard with an advertising concentration. She earned a master of business administration   in Marketing/Entrepreneurship at the University of Georgia, and a Certificate in Project Management from Georgetown University. Prior to her recent appointment, Anderson was the Owner/Chief Strategist of Chandlerson Strategic Management in Washington, D.C., where she led operational and strategic initiatives for numerous teams in several District of Columbia government agencies, including the District of Columbia Public Schools. School of C in the spotlight Journalist Ed Gordon visits School of C     B roadcast journalist Ed Gordon visits the School of Communications. The Media, Journalism and Film department is the host of Gordon's week at SOC participating in a series of classroom lectures and workshops. Gordon, an Emmy-award winning journalist and radio host spent time reviewing and critiquing student-produced work, discussing the changing landscape of the media industry, and producing across media platforms. Gordon is the host of the nationally syndicated radio program Weekend with Ed Gordon, which airs Saturday mornings from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on WHUR. He is widely recognized as the former anchor of BET News , where he landed the first interview with O.J. Simpson following his 1995 murder trial acquittal.
